EHINZ Perspectives

EHINZ Perspectives provide short analytical reports and commentary on emerging environmental health issues and data insights relevant to Aotearoa New Zealand.

This perspective examines non-occupational exposure to lead-based paint in New Zealand dwellings. Notifications were strongly associated with older dwellings built before 1940, highlighting ongoing public health risks from renovation-related lead dust exposure and the continued importance of awareness and prevention measures, particularly for children and pregnant women.
This perspective investigates differences in the age of private passenger motor vehicles across socioeconomic deprivation groups (NZDep2018 deciles) using meshblock-level registration data. Age was calculated using vehicle year (year of manufacture or model year).
Incomplete and uneven oral health reporting coverage may affect the quality and interpretation of child oral health surveillance data, including comparisons between populations with and without access to fluoridated water.
