We have updated our temperature and rainfall/drought indicators in the climate change domain. These are the key facts:
- Number of days over 25°C, 1981-2019, by Territorial Authority (TA)
- In 2019, New Zealand had, on average, 65.9 (54.7–77.2) dry days and 17.7 (16.3–19.0) days with
extreme rainfall. The climate station representing Tauranga District had the most dry days (136),
whereas the stations representing Dunedin, Mackenzie, Southland and Westland District had the
most extreme rainfall days (26 each).
