Social vulnerability

Kia kāinga tū, kia kāinga ora

The EHINZ team has developed a set of social vulnerability indicators for natural hazards and climate change.

Understanding the vulnerability of a population or community can help identify the specific needs of  that population. This can help improve resilience through informing disaster risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery activities. Understanding vulnerability is also vitally important for informing adaptation planning for climate change.

These webpages provide information and statistics about population social vulnerability to natural hazards and climate change in Aotearoa New Zealand.  You can also find out about social vulnerability indicators, and explore indicators for your local area.
